Priyanka Rao
Priyanka Rao is the Principal of FHI Ventures, a for-profit subsidiary focused on impact investing. She is also responsible for leading organization-wide innovation at FHI360 in close coordination with Operations and Enterprise Services which includes development and implementation of the corporate Innovation Agenda. At FHI 360, she has also led corporate strategic planning in coordination with 9 Business Units and executive leadership and supported senior leadership in identifying opportunities for alternative business models and guided the development and execution of long-term strategies.
Priyanka Rao joined FHI 360 with 10 years of progressive private- and public-sector business strategy and cross-industry experience in international development, entrepreneurship, healthcare, technology, government and nonprofit sectors. Prior to joining FHI 360, Priyanka worked in management consulting serving global pharmaceutical clients at The CDM Group’s management consulting division, on a broad range of product and portfolio strategy projects, including in the areas of oncology, animal health, COPD, rheumatoid arthritis and biosimilars.
Priyanka has also worked on innovation, economic development, social entrepreneurship and business growth strategies at The Leading Niche, serving US federal government agencies and nonprofit clients, and has worked with start-ups including Dexur, a healthcare, pharma and biotech industry focused patient, market and competitive intelligence platform in its early stages on competitor benchmarking and sales strategies.
Priyanka also has significant international development experience working in research, program design, implementation and fundraising on a range of issues from public health, education, ICT4D and workforce development for organizations such as UNDP, Engender Health, Women’s Refugee Commission, One Laptop Per Child, and Save the Children, among others.
Priyanka has an undergraduate degree in international studies from Michigan State University and holds a master’s degree in international affairs with an emphasis on economic development, global health and management from The New School University.
