Vision Statement: Growing up in West Africa, I was one of the lucky few – my parents were able to afford private healthcare and we traveled out of the country over the holidays. I have remained dissatisfied with the lack of sustainable change across the continent in health systems. The UN’s position and ability to take action on issues ranging from peace and security, climate change, sustainable development, human rights, to terrorism, humanitarian and health, gender equality and other issues needs to be communicated to a broader audience than has typically been its constituents. UNA-USA’s work in reaching out to communities here in the United States creates an opportunity to engage immigrants and minorities who have not typically thought of the UN as an organization that they can connect with, and I look forward to supporting and expanding the mission of UNA-USA.
