Sarmat serves as the Manager of Global Education and is responsible for implementing the Global Classroom (GCDC) program. Prior to to joining UNA-NCA, Sarmat worked as a staffer in the U.S. Senate, serving on 3 Committees (Small Business, Commerce and Rules), and the Director of Government Affairs for Youth Caucus of America Inc, a non-profit advocacy organization that worked with young Americans to advocate and lobby various policy proposals at the local, state and federal level.
A dual degree alumnus of George Mason university, he holds a primary B.A. in Government and International Politics (concentration in International Relations) and a secondary B.A. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution (concentration in Global Engagement), with a minor in International Security. He brings 15 years of Model United Nations experience, along with 6 years in Model Arab League, 3 years in Model Security Council, and developed some of the "Teach Diplomacy: Simulations" utilized by the National Museum of American Diplomacy (NMAD) at the U.S. Department of State.
An avid bibliophile and polyglot who speaks 7 languages, Sarmat loves to explore the changing food scene in Washington D.C, while serving on the Literary Task Force with the City of Alexandria and manages a non-profit used bookstore on the weekends.
