UNA-NCA’s Young Professionals Program will host its mentorship program. Through the Mentorship Program, the Young Professionals Program matches young professionals with seasoned professionals for one-to-one mentorship based on professional interest and goals.
In the Mentorship program, both mentees and mentors will have the opportunity to:
- Connect with leaders working in international relations in the DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia area.
- Network with like minded professionals
- Attend at least two young professionals programs events and the mentorship program orientation
Mentees
- Must be a member of UNA-NCA
- Live and/or work in the Washington, D.C. metro area
- Must be a young professional (ages 21 - 40)
- Take initiative to drive the relationship and be responsible for goal-setting and planning
- Be open to feedback and new perspectives and ideas
- Spend at least one hour each month engaging with mentor through in-person (or virtual) meetings, email, phone, or other methods as needed
- Commitment to participating in the program for 5-6 months
Mentors
- Must be a member of UNA-NCA
- Work in the Washington, D.C. metro area
- Professional working in the field of international relations with more than 10 years of work experience or have a passion for international relations
- Provide ongoing support, feedback, and advice to promote mentee’s professional growth and achievement
- Be an active listener and enthusiastic about sharing your expertise and experience with mentee
- Spend at least one hour each month engaging with mentee through in-person (or virtual) meetings, email, phone, or other methods as needed
- Commitment to participating in the program for 5-6 months
