UNA-NCA is an independent 501(c)(3) that works in partnership with UN agencies, the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA), and dozens of partners in the Washington metropolitan region. UNA-NCA is not a division of the United Nations.
Internship Overview
10-15 hours/week
The Engagement Intern position is a part-time, remote, unpaid internship opportunity available to current and recent undergraduate and graduate students in the Washington metropolitan region. The duration of the internship is for a minimum of two months and may be extended into the spring/summer.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals to gain diverse project management experience at a DC-based non-profit. The Growth Initiatives team leads a diverse portfolio focused upon enhancing the organization’s operational, financial, and programmatic foundations.
The Engagement Intern will experience working in a small, non-profit environment, while gaining exposure to a variety of partnership development, fundraising, and project management responsibilities. Interns are not expected to make direct donation requests of prospective individual or institutional donors. Interns will work closely with UNA-NCA’s President, the Vice Chair for Development, and UNA-NCA’s Growth Initiatives Director.
While UNA-NCA staff continue to work in a remote capacity, there may be opportunities to attend in-person meetings and events. The organization will update its policies in accordance with DC's health and safety regulations.
Position Responsibilities
Sponsor and Partner Engagement
- Support outreach to prospective institutional sponsors and partners
- Assist with the planning and execution of high-level “engagement” events
- Assist with the planning and execution of donor appreciation events
- Act as a liaison between prospective sponsors, grantors, and UNA-NCA staff
Program & Committee Support (25%)
- Collaborate with program staff on the implementation of digital fundraising campaigns
- Work with UNA-NCA’s Development Committee to leverage the UNA-NCA network, conduct outreach, and jointly execute upon deliverables
- Assist Vice Chair of Development with Development Committee meeting preparation, notes, and follow-up task
