Suchitra Acharjee is a research, advocacy, and public service professional whose experience spans Bangladesh and Washington, DC. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Asian University for Women and a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), where she was honored as Commencement Bell Ringer in recognition of leadership and integrity.
Her experience demonstrates dedication to amplifying the voices of young people, girls, and women, and advancing global equity. At the Library of Congress’s John W. Kluge Center, she supported fellows researching African American women leaders and their impact on movements, including #MeToo in the MENA region. At ActionAid Bangladesh and UNDP, she contributed to gender equity and youth empowerment. Through the Graduate Bill Archer Fellowship, she advocated for labor safety for female garment workers, and in the Graduate Sustainability Research Fellowship, she made actionable recommendations to prevent child marriage and expand girls’ education in rural Bangladesh.
Passionate about women’s empowerment, educational equity, and inclusive communities, Suchitra engages others in thoughtful dialogue over a cup of chai. She draws motivation from bicycling, appreciating its lessons in balance and perseverance. At UNA-NCA, she applies her global perspective, research expertise, and collaborative spirit to connect local action with global challenges. Anchored by a strong belief in Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) as the cornerstone for all SDGs, she works with a service-focused, equitable mindset to empower girls and women worldwide.
