Coffee Chats

Conversations on our World

UNA-NCA Coffee Chats have successfully brought together global, national, and local leadership -- as well as hundreds of UN advocates across the globe - through this series of dynamic and engaging discussions, all centered on the Sustainable Development Goals.

Throughout the year, UNA-NCA will continue to highlight the work of senior leaders across the United Nations, Congress, the private sector and civil society through hour-long virtual roundtables that seek to answer- what are our shared goals? What is the future of sustainable development? Most importantly- how do we keep the spirit of hope alive?

Workers' Rights in a Changing Economy

Major corporate branches like Starbucks, Trader Joes, and Amazon Warehouses have seen a sudden increase in unionization despite a steady decline of union membership since 2017. What does this change mean for the future of workers’ rights? What can workers do to work together locally and internationally to ensure their rights are protected?

The United Nations Association of the National Capital Area hosted a Coffee Chat on labor rights to answer these questions and more on November 14, 2022.
