Jill Christianson builds strong international connections by forging relationships, practice, and policy that advance equity and social justice. Jill is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the UN Association of the National Capital Area and is an active member of the Human Rights Committee. She also chaired the UNA-NCA Nominating Committee (2019), which helped establish the trajectory to ensure the association’s diversity and growth.
In her work with nation's largest labor union, the National Education Association (NEA), Jill leveraged support for the UN Association and the UNA-NCA chapter. Gender justice is prominent in Jill’s intersectional and intergenerational work, including at the UN Commission on the Status of Women. During her career with NEA, Jill was the key representative to United Nations meetings on migration, education, and children. Jill has worked in about 50 nations on issues related to education, labor, gender, and LGBT rights.
Currently, she works with Luminus Network for New Americans, as Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator working with immigrants, first generation youth, and a spectrum of Americans in Maryland. Jill has a Master’s degree in Intercultural Communication from American University and a Bachelor’s degree in Multicultural Education from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
