Lydia Daniels
Alfee Rubayet is a first-year MA candidate in International Development at American University, focusing on gender and social development. She graduated summa cum laude from Franklin & Marshall College with a BA in Economics and Government and a Social Justice Certificate. Alfee has emerged as a scholar, advocate, and artist, developing the Racial Socioeconomic Disparity Index, a pioneering tool mapping racial inequalities across the U.S., and conducting fieldwork in Bangladesh on the structural vulnerabilities of female garment workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. She received the $20,000 Bertha Artivism Award and the Humanity in Action Fellowship for Queer Mubarak!, a transformative project she founded that celebrates queerness from the Balkans to Bengal through art exhibitions, panels, and performances. Queer Mubarak! will debut in New York City in June 2025. Through her interdisciplinary work, Alfee amplifies marginalized narratives in development processes and discourse.
