The choices we make today—about diplomacy, human rights, artificial intelligence, climate, conflict, and international cooperation—will shape the world that today's students and young professionals inherit. At the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area (UNA-NCA), we are preparing them to lead in that world. From our home in the Washington region — where the U.S. government, embassies, the World Bank, UN agencies, universities, and civil society come together — UNA-NCA connects our community to the work of the United Nations while inspiring the next generation to become informed global citizens and principled leaders.
This is a pivotal moment. As the United Nations prepares to select new leadership and the United States considers its role in an increasingly interconnected world, investments in education, dialogue, and international cooperation have never been more important.
Thanks to supporters like you, this past year UNA-NCA:
- Engaged more than 1,000 students from Title I public schools and private academies through our Global Classrooms DC Model UN program, culminating in conferences at the U.S. Department of State.
- Continued our Graduate Fellows Program, which has supported more than 500 emerging leaders since 1991, with alumni now serving at the World Bank, UNDP, the United Nations Information Centre, the U.S. Department of State, and in diplomatic careers across 14 countries.
- Presented 37 public programs spanning 18 global issues, bringing together experts and our community to discuss peace and security, human rights, sustainable development, international law, and global governance.
- Sustained a vibrant network of 396 members and more than 45 partner organizations committed to strengthening understanding of the United Nations and America's engagement with the world.
Today, we invite you to invest in what comes next.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 by United Nations Day in October to sustain and expand UNA-NCA's educational programs through 2027.
Every gift makes a difference:
- $100 helps one student participate in Global Classrooms DC Model UN.
- $250 supports professional development opportunities for a Graduate Fellow.
- $500 expands access to our programs by supporting accommodations for participants with disabilities.
- $1,000 helps bring Global Classrooms DC to a Title I school.
- Leadership gifts provide the resources needed to expand our reach and prepare even more future leaders.
- As America looks ahead to its next 50 years, your support affirms that diplomacy matters, international cooperation matters, and educating the next generation of leaders matters.
Please make your anniversary gift today and help us prepare tomorrow's global leaders. Every gift makes a difference.
Thank you for your partnership and your commitment to UNA-NCA.
