Lydia Daniels
Julia Davatzes is a graduate student at The George Washington University pursuing her MA in International Development, with a focus in humanitarian assistance, and currently interns with the Refugee and Forced Displacement Initiative at the Wilson Center. She previously earned a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia. Prior to her graduate studies, Julia worked for a disaster management firm where she helped communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. She primarily worked on disaster risk reduction and post-disaster housing programs, but also served on multiple active disaster deployments for hurricane response and COVID-19. In 2024, she served as a Peace Fellow for the Advocacy Project in northern Uganda and supported a local WASH program and economic empowerment project for GBV survivors. Julia is passionate about providing safe, decent shelter for displaced persons and grateful to be a 2025 Graduate Fellow for UNA-NCA.
