Ramon J. Ryan is the Chair of the Human Rights Committee of the UNA-NCA. He is an attorney based in Washington, DC, whose professional and civic work focuses on advancing human dignity, equity, and accountability. His legal career includes pro bono work supporting access to government services, immigrant communities, and incarcerated individuals, alongside a broader practice centered on complex regulatory, constitutional, and public-interest matters.
Ramon currently serves as Associate Corporate Counsel at Amazon, where he advises on global telecommunications and satellite regulatory compliance. He previously practiced at Williams & Connolly LLP and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, and served as a judicial law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is also active in nonprofit and academic leadership, serving on the Finance & Stewardship Committee of the Friends Meeting of Washington, the Board of Advisors of Vanderbilt University Law School, and the board of the LGBTQIA+ Association of Vanderbilt Alumni.
A Quaker and long-time advocate for peace and justice, Ramon is guided by a belief in the inherent worth of every person and the importance of international cooperation. As Chair of the Human Rights Committee, he is committed to educating the public, engaging policymakers, and elevating the work of the UN and its partners—particularly in a region uniquely positioned to influence international human rights policy. His goal is for every committee initiative to leave participants better informed, better equipped, and more hopeful about the possibility of a just and peaceful global community.
