From January 28-31, 2025, UNA-NCA Board Member Kristen Hecht proudly participated in the Sixth International Conference, “For World Balance,” in Havana, Cuba. This inspiring global gathering, centered on “Strengthening Multilateralism as an Indispensable Mechanism for Global Balance,” brought together hundreds of international civil society leaders committed to advancing peace, security, human rights, and global cooperation.

Highlights from the 2024 Human Rights Awards

On December 11th, 2024, UNA-NCA hosted our annual Human Rights Awards Ceremony at the United Nations Foundation. This year’s celebration was spectacular as it marked the 76th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 79th anniversary of the United Nations. We were incredibly delighted to present awards to four outstanding individuals and one organization who are working to improve human rights in their communities and around the world.

Resolution in the House of Representatives with UNA-NCA Support

Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) and Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) today reintroduced a resolution reaffirming the United States’ commitment to advancing racial justice, addressing systemic inequities, and promoting the rights and dignity of people of African descent globally.

Young Professionals’ Fall Career Connections 2024

On October 30, 2024, the UNA-NCA Young Professionals (YP) Program hosted its first Fall 2024 Career Connections event at UNA-NCA’s new headquarters. This in-person series focused on careers in various international organizations, such as the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the International Labour Organization. The main component of this YP Career Connections event included a fireside chat featuring professional individuals who work in these international fields. The speakers at this event offered inspirational guidance to students and young professionals, sharing critical perspectives and personal stories about their career paths. The speakers also shared advice on building your resume and cover letter, application processes, and how to utilize your professional networks.
