Open to General Public

The annual Spring Model UN Conference serves as the culminating event of the school year in partnership with the U.S. Department of State and Pan American Health Organization. Keynote speakers at this event have included former U.S. Secretaries of State such as Condelezza Rice, Hillary Clinton, and Rex Tillerson.

Spring 2022 Model UN Conference Information

The Spring 2022 Model UN Conference will take place in-person at the U.S. Department of State on April 7, 2022.

Eligibility

The Spring Conference is open to all middle and high school students in grades 5 – 12.

Registration
  • Spring 2022 Priority Registration: December 6-24, 2021
    Only open to schools registered with GCDC Community (Year-Round Programming)
  • Spring 2022 Public Registration: January 10 - March 25, 2022 (Closes at 5 pm EST)
  • Spring 2022 Late Registration: March 28 - April 1, 2022 (Closes at 5 pm EST)

Any and all changes in registration must be communicated with GCDC as soon as possible. See below for refund policy and financial support.

Payment and Refund Policy

Final Payment deadline: April 1, 2022. Schools that have not submitted their payment by this deadline will not be able to attend the conference. Groups may pay via check made out to "UNA-NCA" mailed to the UNA-NCA office or paid online.

After February 28, 2022, UNA - NCA will only refund 50% of the delegate and faculty fees, as indicated on each school’s most recent invoice.

Student Secretary General Application
Application materials are due March 11, 2022 at 11:59 PM EST. See below for application information.

Media Release Forms
Signed media release forms for all attending students are due March 24, 2022 at 11:59 PM EST.

Position Papers

In order to be eligible for a committee award, delegations must submit one (1) position paper per country (i.e. if three delegates are representing the United States, they will only submit one position paper between the three of them).

There will also be an award for most outstanding position paper for each committee. Position paper requirements and guidelines can be found at the end of each background guide.

Student Secretary General Application

The Student Secretary General has the opportunity to address delegates in opening ceremonies and have their work published on UNA-NCA Snapshots.

Eligibility
Middle or high school students that have attended one other Model UN Conference (not including the GCDC November 2021 Training Conference).

Application
To apply, please submit a 400 word essay on "What Does Model UN Mean to You?", 5 minute video, OR art piece, as well as a 500 word draft of your opening remarks for April 7, 2022 with the name of your school/Model UN group.
